growing wild in the Francis Marion National Forest. There's a stretch in the Santee Unit where several species of orchids and pitcher plants grow. This beauty was growing right amongst them.

Nice shot! I love the color of the flower against that background of the green ferns.

I agree with Scott, the flower against the green ferns is really nice.

Thanks guys. There was a thunderstorm in the distance so the greens and reds were really saturated.

Very nice, I just noticed the goofy looking little bug on it too.

The flower really stands out nicely from the background. I wonder what it would look like framed in a portrait orientation.

Very nice! This is NOT an easy plant to photograph and you did a great job. The difficulty comes from the size of the lily and the amount of DOF to keep the plant sharp front to back.

Thanks, It was taken with a 40D and 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5 @ ISO 400, f/8 and 22mm. I did set the WB with a 18% card. Best I can tell, it was taken in .jpg. Although, I usually keep good photos in RAW and convert to .jpg on the computer.

Rubberhead, I'm in awe! I have struggled to get enough DOF to get this type of flower (larger flower with a wide "wingspan") entirely in focus. So, the solution is to toss the 150mm macro in favor of an ultra-wide angle? Cool! Nope....way cool!:D
