I brought along my tripod and camera gear in hopes of getting a shot like this. I wasn't sure it would happen or work out as it did. After several attempts I think I finally got one I liked.

and here's an artsy one from the same morning:

The colors all blend in nicely together... on both images.

The first image is fun because you can see the mud trail in the water where you were walking back and forth between the camera and tree.

I find that humorous only because I have done the same thing in the Congaree National Park during one of the seasonal floods.... walking back and forth in the water between the tripod and the area where I wanted to be photographed at, stirring up water every time. Hoping to beat that timer on the camera.

Neat shot Scott, I've tried something similar on land but to do it in water is much harder. Glad you didn't trip in your haste to get into position.

My first thought too. (ha ha).

Great shots and great ideas. I really love the feather shot.

And, the Michael Jackson one-glove look is you.

Oh HELL! :D I'm never going to live that down now! I can't shoot with a glove on my trigger finger, or at least I don't feel comfortable doing so, so I don't usually wear one on my right hand. I'll just stick it in my coat pocket to keep it warm.

Thanks for the comments fellas! I do appreciate it.

It was tricky getting into position for the shot. But after several attempts and going back and fourth I got very comfortable with pressing the shutter then scurry'n to the pose position. Although it would have been really funny if I'd of face planted and then the timer go off and get a shot of myself getting baptized. :D

I do the exact same thing. I'm a duck caller and I don't like the way a glove muffles the sound of the mallard hen call.
