Skipper fight...

A skipper aggressively defending it's territory. This little critter was chasing off everything from other skippers to bees & wasp and even a hummingbird. Tiny but fearless... Entertaining to watch and lucky to get a shot of the action.

Awesome Butch! I have witnessed this as well both with the Skipper's and an Aphrodite Fritillary on Cardinal Flowers. "And We thought hummers were aggressive"....I was going to keep "shush" because I figured folks would think I was seeing things! You know us old folks tend to be a little off kilter once in a while! But butterflies can kick hummer butt too! Its amazing!

Interesting, I never thought an insect such as a skipper would behave in such a way. I learn something new everyday.
