The very busy and sometimes curious Ruddy Turnstone. A couple weeks back I had one walk within about 10 inches of my camera. These birds stay so busy foraging that they wander closer than they would probably like to. I just stay still and they go about their business.

That second shot is a stunner for me, Steve. Great series and incredible back-breaking low angles ;)

Wow all are stunning. All have great detail in the feathers, face, and feet.

My favorites are #1 and #2

#1 has the interesting shells and raised foot.

#2 has the most awesome blurred background (blue then green gradient). Also fun detail of the sand on the birds feet.

I may never post again.

Another great series that makes me incredibly jealous. It's cool how the shells are that same orange tint. Shot #2, mid-stroll, with that background and the sand - Oh man! I also really like the angle of the bird in #4.

Thanks Richard, Joe and Deede.

Joe, these birds make the work almost effortless. As long as I lay down in their general area near the water they usually find me. The Wilson's Plovers are much the same. I wish the Kingfishers were half as accommodating.

"My Cup of Tea" I'm a shorebird fanatic! I live for the Horseshoe Crab extravaganza up here in the Mid Atlantic and the thousands of these guys that attend!

Those are awesome shots Steve. I'm going to have to make me a "skimmer".

Thanks much Jim, I enjoy the shorebirds as well.

I come across quite a few Horseshoe Crabs and always stop to try and help them back to the surf if they show signs of life. Some I've come across were dying but some seemed to be caught by the tide and did manage to go back out with some help, very interesting animals.

#2 is about as good as it gets.
