This green heron looked to be "sky pointing", a breeding behavior of egrets and herons. It wasn't until I got home I realized he was missing a toe.

C&C welcomed.

I have never seen a Green Heron do it, but I have seen Tri-colored Herons, Great White Herons, and Snowy Egrets do it. Yep, you guessed it. The alligator farm.

While I would have looked at the feet detail, I would have never noticed the missing toe if you didn't say something.

By the way, the feather detail is really good.

The dark shadow underneath the bird (near the top of the legs) is misleading. It almost looks like some of the photo is cut out, but I know it is a shadow.

Missing parts! Reminds me of a Wood Stork I photographed in November 2008 that was missing an entire foot

Super shot Robert and I agree with Joe on the feather detail. Super job!

Awesome capture Robert! Like the others, I like the feather detail on this one!

Great behavioral shot Robert and tack sharp. Might have been a snapper that trimmed that nail too close.
