Fan Clubmoss or Running Cedar.

This image was composed with the idea of a documentary shot, I just wanted to record and try to identify the plant. Trying to make it something interesting didn't occur until after I took the photo. I now wish I had taken more time with the composition at the initial capture.

Yep, I know it's not that good. But between my two different post processing procedures shown here, which one do you think is the more interesting shot? #1, #2, or maybe something in between?

#1

#2

Number two has better overall shape, both on the subject as well as the BG.........But,,, I'm partial to the first! I like the warmth and the greens here!

This might go better in Natures Abstracts...Ya Think? Matters Not but maybe even both!!! Kinda Neat Patterns here!

Yep, I think I like #1 better too, even with the loss of detail. It's more pleasing to view from my perspective.

I think the "spotlight/dappled shade" effect in #1 is interesting, but it doesn't bring out the detail and sharpness like #2. I'm torn between a crisp photo, and an "artsy" representation. Hmmm, can't decide. Sorry, not much help. I'd have to say you have two good shots from one, each for it's own purposes. Now that's ecomony-- a two-fer :D

The first one is the most artistic IMHO. Might be interesting one to try the negative-clarity trick on. Might work, might not.

Number 1 here! Reminds me of looking at coral!

I'm with everyone else...the first one works better to me. It has more "depth" to it.

As a horizontal, I think this would be a killer screensaver!

#1 for sure. As Diz said it has more warmth and I really like the saturation. I think the sharpness of the second one really detracts from the overall image and gives it a harsher feel.

I believe you're right Mike. Sometimes things don't look good too sharp. But you don't want a blurry look either. Somewhere in between is sometimes just right.

I think if I use this image, I will use #1.
