You ever have a day that works out like you wanted? Just got back from my annual fall trip to the Smokies and while we were there they were calling for ice/snow at the higher elevations. Last thing I said to my wife when we turned in was hope the weather people are right. Got up early and the higher elevations were socked in (first photo), waited around killing time and seemed like the clouds were not going to breakup, guess I was not going to get the shot I had in mind. We decided to go over to Mouse Creek Falls and see what we could do. We came back through Cosby about 3PM and the clouds rolled off the mountains as we watched (second photo). Not a winner, but I am very happy with it.

Very appropriate title Sandy. The second image has a definite separation between the "fire" and "ice". I almost wonder if you should warm up the foreground even more to make the separation even more distinct. Interesting shot. You were there at a good time.

I likes 'em both but that first one really grabs at me!

Just awesome!

I agree with Joe on a touch more warmth but then if exposed for an HDR, these ould have been really interesting.

A very striking set of images. I guess the second one is the most distinct. With such a clear separation of the background and foreground, I'd be tempted to make a duplicate layer in Photoshop and process the foreground and background individually, then recombine them as desired to get the most from both the blues and the warm tones. As-is it's still a stunning shot.
