From this summer. Not an easy shot to find. These flytraps sit fairly close to the ground so finding one that is naturally backlit is not simple. Finding one that is backlit and with dinner is even tougher! I'm kicking myself for not spending more time with this scene. A polarizer and a little more DOF would have had the potential to make this a good shot. This spring, I'll be better prepared! Taken at a nature preserve in New Hanover county, NC

Skip,

That is the first time I've seen a flytrap eating lunch. That is over the top right there but add to that the BG colors and dew, WOW, great shot.

I see exactly what you are trying to do here Skip. Get a shot with a silhouette of the victim. What a great idea. You said nature light, but I wonder if you took along some flashlights and could position them you might make more opportunities for the victim silhouette. Don't know if that would work, just an idea.

Another idea would be to find one with an ant or fly where you could see the legs spread out in the silhouette. Though I realize finding a venus flytrap is hard enough, finding one in the wild with that criteria would be even harder.

Great idea. This one doesn't look bad at all, but I totally understand what you are looking for. Three more months till spring!

Neat! This one almost looks like a watercolor painting. Cool that you can see the bug inside.

I love the translucency of this one that allows you to see the flytraps prey. Super detail on this one.
