An oldie from a few years ago. Historic Wilmington, NC waterfront, seen from across the river. This part of the Cape Fear no longer supports shipping commerce and is primarily a business and tourist destination. Evidence still exists of that bygone era though. There is a constant battle between developers who deem old, historic buildings as "not cost effective to restore" and preservationists who want to save them.
And yes, this pictures breaks the "rule" by centering the horizon!:D

Neat shot Skip, my only suggestion would be to try a shot with flash and light up the rock in the foreground.

Great suggestion Robert! I would add that you dial it down if/when you do try again. Also you may want to try to shoot it so that your horizon isn't centered with more rock in the foreground or something. Just food for thought. It's a nice shot as is. Good job!

That is nice Skip. The whole reflection thing with the buildings and lights in the water... then the clouds in the water.
I think what you did with centering the horizon works ok in this particular case, just because you can to see the clouds in the sky that are causing the 'clouds' in the water.
It would also work with less of the sky/clouds on top with the horizon higher. Though it would cause you to lose the cresent moon.
Great shot of Wilmington

Really beautiful view of the city. I think the centered horizon worked in this shot. I also really like the positioning of the moon and rocks. Very nicely done, Skip.

I agree with your comment whole heartily DeeDe. The moon and rocks work together in this shot.
