I've been busy getting up a decent representation of images for the Pee Dee National Wildlife Refuge in the southern Piedmont of NC. I'm one of 2 resident photographers for this refuge and I've been collecting a decent series of shots that show the wildlife, flora, a bit of landscape, and some recreation for this refuge. The refuge was started for waterfowl but it does have a lot to offer all year long.
At some point the government will link this slide show to their web site...right now they have a link to the other photographer's Flicker gallery showing the fu fu birds ;) of the area. Will Stuart does a fine job handling these little guys.
Each time I go out there to shoot...I try to really keep open minded if I can't find what I am looking for. For example, earlier this fall I wanted to go check a small marshy area for some bluewing teal...they were here about this time last year so I was hoping for the best on this particular trip. Well it was very wet and foggy that morning. I found no teal...but did notice that just about everything had some sort of spider webs on them...and those webs were full of dew...so the whole shoot turned into shooting spider webs.
Anyhow...here is what I have gathered so far...some events...and even a few terrible shots maxing out the pixels and the lens...but needed documentaries for the area none the less.

Nice Job on these!!!

I really like the spider and the web as my favorite but the Woodies are neat as a behavioral presentation.

Keep the images coming on this place!

Keith you've got some wonderful images on flickr. I particular like the one of the lone female wood duck. I also like some of the snow/frost shots. I didn't realize that Wood Storks sometimes visit the area. Very cool. Looks like a great place for birds and birding. I believe between you and Will Stuart you guys got the Pee Dee NWR covered.

I really need to get out there, it would be so close to my house.

As for the images you've posted here, I'm particularly fond of the spider web, especially how it's lit up. I also like the behavior shot of the wood ducks.
