I always like stopping by Harris Neck on the way back and forth between Florida. It's only about 8 miles from I-95.
The site is the location of an old Army P-41 training runway used during World War II. While the runways are cracked they are not overgrown and make nice bike and walk paths.

This gator was taken at Woody Pond. I am fairly happy with the image. Maybe some more room on the left side of the gators head would be nice. The pea soup color is a bit much, but that's what it actually looked it.

Very cool photo. I really like the low perspective and depth of field - that really works with the gator and vegetation for that "he's after something" feeling. Nice!
I've not been to Harris. Heard good things from a birding couple when I was in Florida this spring, but just didn't have the time to work it into that trip. Looks like it's on my ever-growing list of places! Especially if it has fun stuff like this.

GREAT shot, Joe. Incredible bokeh, and I like the pea colored soup. It really adds to the environmental aspect.

Great capture Joe. Stalking in camo, an animal after my heart. :D Thanks for the tip on this location. I'll be traveling by it in the spring so I might have to check it out. Is it a good location for nesting shots in April?

Good shot. I love shots of these animals. The duckweed? adds to the old south feel. - SandyLee

Man that's a super sharp shot! The detail in the eyes is freaking awesome! I wish I could find a Wood Duck pond with that much duck weed on it right now! The advantage this time of year is that those lizards are no where to be found :D

It's amazing a gator can make a living in such thick soup. You did a great job with the angle, neat shot.

Alligators are what brought me to this site and this one is highly satisfying. I also love the low angle on this one and the color. That's my favorite shade of green. I can just imagine that you had to be belly on the ground to capture this!
