That's a pretty awesome image your son captured here! I would like a little more shape in the shadows but I won't throw a "hissy" over the plugged shadows in this one as I understand just how hard a perfect exposure would be to accomplish here with the snow (highlights) against that dark sky and foreground. I'm a little concerned about the sky as I see some artifacts starting to appear in the color transitions and linear reach. Also I see some "flat tints" in the snow field. (I think)

Do you have the RAW file to work with or are you working with a JPIG?

jim this was taken with a pocket cmera one of the canon elph things. so i guess its not raw im working with. he has another pic where the sun is glinting on the snow and it shows all kinds of yellow in it. i tried to use hsl in it but the blue hue just goes crazy this is almost except for claritycontrast and sharpening and than some noise reduction. what i started with. just wish i could have been there to see it.:(

What an awesome (and intimidating) place you son is at. I agree about the foreground shadows on each side, they need to be opened up more. The snowy white mountain looks awesome.
