It was a pretty good weekend. Got the chance to hit a few places in the Green Swamp as well as a some other areas where some of the native orchids and wildflowers can be found. It's been a strange spring so far...some of the plants are way late and a few are early. Go figure. Ticks? I don't think have been bothered by the weather at all:mad:

Skip I love the non distracting blurred background you got on all three of these, but my favorite has got to be that Rosebud Orchid. It looks fabulous, beautiful blossom and just a very interesting plant. Looks very exotic.

Great stuff, especially the Rosebud Orchid.

That Rose Pogonia is also an orchid right?

The Rosebud Orchid is Outstanding!

Such subtle colors and a very nice composition. I find the Butterfly weed very interesting and intimate. The ones here seem to just be clumps of orange globs........

Very nice Skip!

Yep, it's an orchid... Pogonia opioglossoides
(please don't ask me pronounce it though...)

Backgrounds are something that I've been working hard on in regards to macro...based on the premise that; 'if it isn't adding something to the picture, it's taking away from it'.

Skip, the rosebud orchid is a gem! As is the milkweed.

Looking at your photo and given the Green Swamp, the milkweed may be Asclepias lanceolata?? A better find so worth a google or two.

Thanks Will. I Believe it is A. lanceolata...Few-Flower Milkweed. It was abundant along a short section of Hwy 211.
