Found this crab spider in my back yard this past weekend. She seems to be well fed to be this early in the season. Normally the ones I find this time of year are much smaller.

Not as sharp as I would like on the eyes but the wind was kicking up and I was holding the end of this leaf with the lens barrel resting on the heel of my hand. Getting a little rusty... must take more pictures!

Canon 30D, Sigma 105 macro at 1:1, F/11, ISO 200, 1/250 sec. Flash with milk jug diffuser was used due to high bright sunlight. Full frame.

Very lovely detail, especially on the leaf and fore appendages near the face. I almost with the was a little room in the image on both sides of the most extended legs. Then again, I can't get anything like this.

Excellent! I really like this positioning. Agree with Joe about wishing for a bit more room but the "spider-eye" perspective really works!

Like Joe, thoughts of a little more room on the sides would be nice, but it's a fascinating image as is. The detail at f11 on the spider is excellent!

Nice one Butch, glad to hear you got out shooting. Did you go to the meeting last night?

Yes, this is a very satisfying spider shot. It gives me the shivers. And it is another great example of why I need to make one of those milk jug diffusers. Thank you so much for including the specs with this. I find it extremely fascinating to know all of the details of how fabulous photos are made.
