What a difference a couple of mintues can make! Went to the Nature Photography weekend at Grandfather Mountain last week. Had a great time! The sunrise photography for the two days was...challenging. Found a decent little area to play with though. I'm curious to see what the thoughts are on these two shots...sun in or sun out? Or, neither one???:D

This is what a polarizer sees when you forget that the self-timer is set (how can one forget in less than 10 seconds?) and you start adjusting the filter!

you've been attacked by dust bunnies.

I like the 1st one the best. The exposure looks great and you have great detail throughout the image. It doesn't appear that you've lost anything in the shadows in this one. The 2nd one is good too I just prefer the lighting in the 1st one better.

I too like the first the best. The colors in the foreground blooms looks much better. The second shot with the sun out seems to lose the colors in the foreground blooms. Also the first shot has the most dynamic clouds between the two. To me the clouds add so much to this image, if they were missing then the image would be so-so, with the clouds the images are very good. I think you did a good job with these.

I also like the composition of the first shot best. In the second you cut off the conifer on the right. I think that tree needs to be in the photo. The first looks better showing both of the tall conifers.
