Default Nantahala Valley View

from a top of Wesser Bald and I didn't take the easy route to get there, nearly 3000 feet up the mountain

This wasn't what I was after but I seriously underestimated the heat and the hike. I almost made it to the top Friday afternoon but it was getting dark so I had to take up camp about a mile below the top. Then when morning came and my alarm started going off I couldn't get up from my comfy sleep to make it up there for the sunrise. I was slam worn out!

This is 3 images stitched together shot at 17mm, f22. This is the first time I've ever really done any sort of stitching of images.

and 627 feet down from the top here's the view from what's known as the Jumpup Lookout. This section of the trail was REALLY steep!

This is 2 images stitched together shot at 21mm, f22

Wow! These are gorgeous. You were definitely rewarded for your climb and that pano is seamless. Fantastic for a first attempt!

Like that you are getting some mountain time Scott. In fact not just mountain time, but apparently backpacking time.

The clouds look great in the second shot. An empty sky is usually boring, it is always nice to be able to fill that area with dynamic looking clouds. I also like your first stitching. Though you look a little close to the clouds and seemed almost socked in.

You are doing exactly what I want to be spending more time on. Landscapes.

Oh Joe was it ever socked in on the 1st! 180 degrees from that view you couldn't see anything. It was blowing in from the SW (I think if my directions are correct) and it was thick! You know you're right about the clouds in the 2nd one. I guess I just wish they would have been higher and more scattered. I just would have liked to have seen more blue sky. It's hard to come by this time of year in them hills.

Thanks for the kind words to you both.

Good stuff. Those mountain trails are more than a little capable of kicking this old guy's butt. Good on you for taking them on.

Never tried any landscape stitching myself - Nice job on both, Scott. I really like your composition on the second with the framing and clouds. Looks like you're about to get wet on the first!
