Default Definately Part of the Coastal Culture

I was going to go for a paddle yesterday morning but the wind was up and it didn't look like a stellar day for hand holding a camera in a kayak. I decided to go for "Plan B" and head over to the beach to try and grab some photos at the Buddy Pelletier Longboard Classic surfing contest. This isn't something I'm good at, but it's kind of fun to give a try from time to time. Surfing is definately a part of the culture along the Carolina coast.

Neat Bob. I would love to observe a surfing contest. I used to watch them on wide world of sports years ago.... man against nature kind of thing.

I think you do well with the photos. The second is a tad blurry (I think from motion blur), but the rest are just fine for me.

Again, neat you got to see this, would love to have been there with you.

Way to pull off plan b! The first shot is my favorite of the bunch. You did a great job framing it. The waves in the bg really make this image unique.

Thanks Joe. Of course our waves are nothing compared to what we used to watch on Wide World of Sports. If you like quality surfing imagery see if you can catch the documentary film "Step Into Liquid." The footage in that thing is pretty amazing. It's been running on Flix and Showtime quite a bit lately.

The second shot is blurry. Wasn't the one I intended to post. Ooopsie! I'll attahce the shot I inteded to post at the end of this reply.

Thanks Richard. Much appreciated.

And now, what should've been the second image posted.

Oh, yeah, I love that one of the guy wiping out. What fun! You could make some money with that one. He would either want a copy of it or pay you not to show it. Ha! Those are cool and interesting subjects for some action shots.
