Default Any Ideas?????????

It's most likely common but I'll be darn if I can ID this thing!

July,30,2010 / Late July Bloom (first time I noticed it) south central Appalachain Mountains/ Michaux State Forest/ Elevation 1200 feet/road side under Pine and mixed hardwoods/small flower 7 inches diameter

Shot with Canon EOS 5D and the EF 100mm f2.8 MACRO

Thanks for any ideas

Jim

What a beautiful flower. I have never seen one, very exotic looking.

From my books... looks like a belamcanda chinensis. Try a search on belamcanda chinensis with google and see if that brings up some photos of the flower. Common name is the Blackberry-Lily.

Cool find Jim!

Yep, looks like Joe was right. And I didn't see a single photo of one from the Google search that was prettier than the one you shot! I doubt that I will ever stumble across one, so thank you so much for sharing this lovely bloom with us!
